lAke PowElL 2011

The Lake! Oh, how we love thee! Wishing I was there now, looking at these pics. We had a great time this year, although we came out on Tuesday, instead of Sunday and we missed Tyler and Blair a whole lot, and I always have a little downer thinking about my cousins not being there, but really you can't be too down at the lake, especially LAKE POWELL! I actually did get to spend some time with some cousins this trip, that was nice.

The Campsite:
It's always fun to have a pic of the campsite to look back on and help remember the trip.

Let's Go for a Ride:
On the boat, or behind it...I'm happy to be there. Can't say the same for my daughter-she'd much prefer the be on it. Oh well, she was a good sport and took her turns.
Skiing with Grandpa actually went pretty well. She is a little nervous, as you can see from the pic, but once she was up (which we don't have any pic to prove it) she was fine.

Now Wake surfing for some reason she was NOT having it. I'm sure glad it wasn't me on the board with her flying legs, kicking like no tomorrow, although from a swimming perspective they were beautiful kicks- would have thrown me off balance FOR SURE. Great job, Dad!

Just Hanging Out:
Some of the best times on the lake are just hanging out on the houseboat, on the beach, and of course- in the water (the water was cooler this year then in the passed, it was rising)!

My dad and his Buff...Don't judge too quickly, it sure is versatile!

The Kids:
Having kids puts a spin on what you find FUN to do at the lake...spending time with them is as fun as it gets!

Annaka was caught without her clothes/swimsuit on just a couple times...although it was the beginning of the end of NO MORE DIAPERS~! Yippee!

Ok and Owen too...although he's still in diapers.Owen and his cousin Bennett! just 2 months apart...so cute!
Loves his Bumbo!Anna loved the jet skiies

We sure wore him out! He took the best naps!

Some things to remember:
*slide down a monster slide at the Sandhill made by Whitehead cousins
*No baseball :( let's not skip this again, K!
*Yummy dinners and brunches
*swim through debris some canyon I can't think of the name at the moment that ended up in a hike because it we would much rather walk back then swim in the MOST DISGUSTING, smelly debris that gets in any crevice of your body and swimsuit you can find and doesn't come out regardless of what you try, oh and did I mention it STINKS! (ya, who wants to come to Lake Powell now?! Haha, promise it's not always like this!) And who can forget Mike trying to swim UNDER it, but forgot he had his life jacket on and ends up swimming THROUGH the stuff, and I laugh out loud thinking about it now how terrible that must have been! Oh, wish we had pictures!
*I decided to learn how to drive the boat...I told my dad that as we he was driving us back from the adventure I mentioned above and he must have been happy for a break or something because he hands it over to me right then and there, no stopping to switch, just take the wheel Tara! Ha-ha! He must not have realized I have NEVER driven the boat before! and now I'm driving and it's not like the most beginners water to be driving in...pretty choppy actually, but not to the point where I don't want to drive, because I WANT to LEARN! So, I received mixed reviews from my passengers- from headaches to scared for their lives or one who actually said they didn't think I just bad at all and were just enjoying the ride! I definitely need some practice...Let's just say I sacred myself a few times. :)
*Kirby studying like crazy on top of the houseboat...not seeing him for hours...he shaped up though :) and did warm up to the lake and taking a vacation!
